Me, My book and I
‘’`Snowball’’ book

The book that I decided I wanted to make was going to be a kid’s book that has a moral message within. I came up with the idea of relating a kid’s book to me by using a pig on my Dad’s farm that has appeared to become a permanent fixture as the main character. This theme summarize my connection to my childhood, as I grew up there, as well as my connection with animals, especially the animals that have lived on the farm. I wanted to explain how animals that are bred and born to be eaten wouldn’t have existed if not for that purpose through a children’s book.
I planned to have a small and string bound book. With large simple text, that has a simple way of reading, so it appeals to the young audience, as well as a simple and bold style that also appeals to the same audience. I drew simple sketches in my book first, then to take photos with my phone, then use my phone app program to create my new, bold style that I need for this project.
I developed my skills with computer illustration more using my phone app. As I learnt more about using layers and locking together separate images to build up the final illustrations. I also progressed my understanding of `Adobe illustrator, by putting together my final images and text, I learnt how to position artboards and use my new knowledge of layers from my phone app in this program.

In the plymouth area, I've found art workshops at the College of art that would help with illustration development. such as the illustration cafe. for these classes, you would need basic skills in visualy communicating ideas and words through drawings. I feel i am already confident in this type of illustration and have the required skills.
If I were to set up a portfolio of my work, i would gather all my images into one collection and organise them into subjects. Such as sculptures and illustrations, then into further categories such as animal sculptures and still life pieces.

Fox sculpture

When starting my illustration course, I arrived with skills in all the basic areas but lacked techniques using computer design software and adobe programs. I chose this course as is is a broad and useful subject to follow on from that will give me a good idea of what i'd like to specify in by the end of the course.
